Saturday Morning Outing

Hello Everyone!
Hubby and I went out for Saturday Brunch today to a local little place just minutes north of town called Dolphins Resort.  We had heard that it had really good breakfasts and that it was reasonably priced.  And they were right...very good food, comparable pricing, and very nice atmosphere.  The restaurant is located on a hill facing east towards the water.  Nice grounds, cute cabins with private hot tubs on the decks, quiet woods.  So I took a few pix to share with you.  Firstly there is this short pathway from the upper parker lot.

Flowerbeds are all cleaned up, just the local winter greenery left.

Here is the restaurant at the Dolphins Resort called 'The Anglers' Dining Room'.

There is always a wood carving of a salmon in these parts.

These are side views of the restaurant.  Must be a nice setting in the summertime for lunch or dinner. Will definitely check this place out during the different seasons & a great place to take our visitors.

So after feasting we did a walkabout the grounds.  Very nice spot.

I love hydrangea...even in the fall they can hold a bit of color.

The view is beautiful and it was such a still, windless morning.

Hot tubs on the cabin decks.

Luv this cabin...moss on the roof and all.

We came around back to the restaurant and this time there was a 'greeter' on the front step.

I luv labs.  There is something so calm & sturdy about this fella...all is 'safe' under his watchful care.

Yes, leaves have been falling rapidly this week with the winds pulling at them.

Very nice outing this morning, we enjoyed the peacefulness...away from the hectic demands of motel management.   Until next time, MO

NO SNOW HERE

Hello
This post today is to let my prairie friends & family know that, "no, we don't have snow".  Living on the Pacific Northwest Coast has it's perks.  Last here we didn't even see snow at all and hopefully that is the same for this winter.  Snow is pretty, but I don't want any, thank you very much. LOL  So here's a few pictures from my morning outing.  The mountain tops have fresh new pristine snow and they are brilliantly white in the sunshine.  So even tho' it is sunny, we're need to dress warmly if taking a seaside walk.
Most of you will recognize that this is the scene out my front window.

  I'm driving north into town...

Ferry coming across Discovery Passage from Quadra Island...it's a short 20-30 minute trip across the water.

So a pleasant day out there even tho' it's chilly.  Need a hat and gloves today. I bought a new bright red and lined rain jacket for the winter.  I crocheted a simple scarf from chunky yarn using the V stitch.  It is very warm and snuggly and soft.
I luv the colors of this yarn...I'm sure Lucy would approve. LOL

Until next time...keep warm folks...MO

BAKING GOODNESS

Hello Everyone
I've been absent for a bit and some days I just don't know where times goes!

I made this sourdough bread from a starter batch.  I've never used a starter before, so something new to try.  Used a sourdough starter from http://culturedfoodconnection.com/.  (This is a new business venture for two long-standing friends.)  It grew very quickly and I fed and kept it warm every day.

For my first batch of sourdough bread I just used plain everyday flour.

Fresh crusty sourdough...O Yum!!!!

Then I thought let's try a different take on bread. I used the sourdough starter for Focaccia bread with basil and oregano.

Next time I make focaccia I will add sun-dried tomatoes. The sourdough starter is now resting in my fridge.  Next I'm going to use rye flour.

Made a blueberry pie/torte (not sourdough). Some pretty tasty pie, warm with vanilla ice cream!

I have some crochet to share with you...until next time, MO
