Fog has Lifted!

Hello World...I know you are out there!  I don't remember a time that we have been so locked in by fog!  But that is just because we live right by the water...2-3 blocks up the hill they have sunshine.  It's like two different worlds.  But the sun managed to burn off the fog today, so took myself for a wee walk.

My 'out the front door' scene is back and I never tire of it. Have not seen it in about a week because of low lying fog.

Methinks there are a couple of paintings that I should do. No excuse for not painting as the inspiration is right in front of me every day, that is when the fog isn't there. :)

Everyone in town I think refers to this as the 'big rock'.

Didn't I see this guy the other day in the fog?  Looks like him. :)

Someone planted a carving here by the pathway.

I like the 'silvery' look of these shrubs, now that the leaves have fallen.

Kind of a strangely painted rock for these parts of the country.  Cactus and sombrero time?

These two dudes are always on the look out gazing at the watery passage.

I call this the 'popcorn' bush, because from a distance it does look like popcorn!

Heading back from my morning walk...

Hubby and I took a walk the other evening and came across some serious fisherman in a canoe.  Actually the fish were jumping right out of the water...literally tail and all out of the water!

An even more serious one in hip waders.  The guy must be wearing all his woollies!

Now, doesn't this beg to be painted or what!?

And so it goes, hopefully the sun will burn bright enough to keep the fog away.  Until next time, MO

Foggy Days

Hello Folks
Quite a difference in scenery today on my morning walk.  Fog stayed all day and it totally wiped out the idea of life anywhere else.  There is no life beyond our shores! :)

The sea was absolutely calm and everything was 'quiet'.

Small trace of someone's beach fire.

Pebbly beach and one lone bird...

Logs sleeping...

Bit of green for color, but otherwise everything is monochromatic.

A small look-out has been built for wheelchair access, which is a good thing.

It was a relaxing walk...a calm peacefulness...a hushed world... and a meditative atmosphere.

I think that people must dump yard refuse on the beach area...this plant is domestic, perhaps artemisia or a dusty miller variety.

A tiny little mitt...perhaps the Mom will notice it the next time she walks by.

A heron...a still figure in the foggy shore...

When I first saw him paddling out of the fog towards the shore I wasn't sure what type of bird it was.  It turned out to be one huge seagull...fat like a turkey!

Few ducks on the water...the ocean is so calm that the only ripple is caused by the wildlife.

So it was a 'hushed' morning walk that I took this morning. What a difference from a few days ago.  Not too many people on the Seawalk either today.  Met a young boy about 11 yrs of age, biking on the pathway and he stopped to chat about the weather.  Made me laugh...I guess that is what us adults talk about when we meet up...the weather.  Hoping the fogs lift so we can see the sunshine that I know is there by the overhead glow in the sky.  Until next time, MO

Birdies

Hey, I bought birdies last week...2 Society Finches.  Hard to take a decent picture of them through the cage and because they are so active.  The dark one is Morpheus and the white one is Delilah.  Delilah might turn out to be Ralph...the pet store wasn't sure of the sex of the white & brown ones as they are too young, and I've can't tell as I've never seen finches with these particular colors. Morpheus is calm and sedate for a finch.  Delilah is all over the place.  I went out and got some new things for the cage today...some nesting material, a cuttle bone, a better water container, etc.  Morpheus just stayed in one place, cocking his head from side to side and just looked at all the new objects.  Delilah pecked the cuttle bone, pulled some string from the little container, then she checked out the new seed and the new water container and then sat in the empty little basket that needs to be filled with nesting material.  She did all this in less than 10 minutes.

Anyways, their antics are interesting and fun to watch. They have quite the vocabulary.  All kinds of chirps, warbles, beeps, tweets, whistles and cricket-type sounds.  Like I say,I've never seen these brown colored finches before. Quite a number of years ago I bred Society finches, but they were totally white with orange beaks.  I've also raised Zebra finches, canaries (the ones with weird tuffs on their heads like Beatle hair cuts), cockatiels (grey/yellow with orange cheeks) and ring-necked doves.  When we lived on an acreage I had an fair-sized aviary for all my little feathered friends.  I sold the grown up babies to local pet stores. I don't plan on doing that again, just wanted a couple of little feathered buddies in my life.   Until next time, MO
